
CFTC Prepares Crypto Rules as Debate Grows Over U.S. Clarity Act

The chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission said the agency's staff is already examining a possible framework for regulating crypto market structure, and could act quickly to put forward rules should Congress fail to pass the Clarity Act, according to Decrypt.
The comments indicate the CFTC is preparing a regulatory route independent of legislative action on the bill.
The prospect of U.S. crypto rules has fed a broader market discussion. CoinDesk reported that Erald Ghoos, chief executive of OKX Europe, said clearer regulation in the United States could revitalize the market, pointing to a shift of capital away from artificial intelligence assets and back toward bitcoin. CoinDesk also noted debate over whether the effect of the Clarity Act has already been reflected in a recent bitcoin rally.
