Coinbase executive Jesse Pollak is stepping back from his leadership role over the Base app, according to reporting by CoinDesk. The move follows Pollak's own acknowledgement that his strategy for building a crypto-focused social product had not succeeded.
What Changed
According to CoinDesk, Pollak said that Jordan Fish, who is known on the social platform X under the handle "Cobie," will take over leadership of the Base app team. The transition marks a shift in how the product is managed following the admission that its social approach fell short.
Base is the layer-2 blockchain network associated with Coinbase, designed to support lower-cost transactions and applications built on top of it. The Base app has been positioned as a consumer-facing product intended to bring crypto tools and social features to a wider audience. Pollak has been one of the most visible figures connected to Base's development.
