Developer Uses AI Agents to Port DLSS 5 to Intel Integrated Graphics

A developer operating under the handle Uzbekunknown on GitHub has managed to run NVIDIA's DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on the integrated Arc 140V graphics of an Intel Lunar Lake system, according to reporting by Tom's Hardware. The project, named dlss-nr-on-intel, is an independent reimplementation rather than a wrapper around NVIDIA's DLL, which many earlier hacks relied on.

The port rebuilds the 71-block U-Net used by DLSS 5 and runs it on Intel's Xe XMX units via the Vulkan extension VK_KHR_cooperative_matrix. It executes entirely in FP16 with FP32 accumulation, because Intel's Xe2 architecture does not support FP8. The developer showed proof-of-concept results in three fighting games: Tekken 7, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, and Mortal Kombat 1.

Performance is very limited. TechPowerUp reports the developer said Tekken 7 ran at roughly 10 frames per second at 640x360 resolution, with poor frametimes. The project currently runs only on Linux, and users must provide their own copy of NVIDIA's DLL. The author describes it as a research port rather than a finished product, suggesting photo-mode use as the only realistic scenario at present.
