Intel Foundry has released version 0.9 of the process design kit (PDK) for its 14A manufacturing node, a step the company describes as an important milestone in bringing the next-generation technology toward production. According to Tom's Hardware, the kit became available last week, and Intel says the node is reaching the performance and yield maturity expected at this stage, with results backed by silicon validation.
A process design kit provides transistor models, design rules, and related data that chip designers use with electronic design automation tools to develop products for a specific process. Tom's Hardware notes that PDK 0.9 is significant because it represents the 14A node based on actual silicon measurements rather than theoretical models or simulations, allowing customers to proceed with product development with greater confidence.
