Google is positioning Gemini as an autonomous workplace agent capable of planning and completing multi-step tasks across business applications, according to coverage from TechCrunch and Android Authority.
The new agent can take on entire tasks without requiring users to guide it through each step. It works across business software including Google Workspace, Slack, and Microsoft 365, and maintains context across devices, Android Authority reported. The agent can also delegate work to specialized AI sub-agents and draw on multiple AI models.
TechCrunch reported that the agent is given its own workplace identity, including an email address.
Google Cloud unveiled the agent at its Gemini at Work 2026 event. It is currently available only to enterprise customers in private preview, with no announced plans for a wider consumer release.
