NVIDIA's add-in card partners have reportedly not yet received the design kits needed to build the GeForce RTX 5080 24 GB, according to BenchLife, as cited by TechPowerUp. Without these kits, a launch in the near term appears unlikely.
The design kits typically bundle a GPU die with memory modules supplied directly by NVIDIA. The company sources GDDR7 modules, negotiating their pricing and supply, and receives GPU dies manufactured by TSMC. NVIDIA then packages these components and ships them to board partners, which mount them on their own custom PCBs and card designs. Because partners need time to validate and test new designs before production, the absence of kits suggests a previously assumed January release may not be achievable.
