Nvidia has raised the price of its Shield TV Pro streaming device from $199.99 to $299.99, effective October 2. According to TechPowerUp, the box launched in October 2019 and had held its original price for nearly seven years before the increase.
The company attributed the change to rising component costs. In a statement cited by both Tom's Hardware and TechPowerUp, Nvidia said that beginning October 2 the Shield Pro would be priced at $299, and that the cost of components, including memory, had risen substantially across the industry. Tom's Hardware linked the trend to demand from AI data centers absorbing memory and storage supply.
Alongside the price change, Nvidia confirmed it has stopped making the standard, tube-shaped Shield TV, which TechPowerUp reported had been out of stock for months. That leaves the Pro as the only Shield-branded streaming device still in production, with Nvidia saying it is focusing production on the Pro model.
