Nvidia has reportedly halted the allocation of its GB202 graphics silicon to the consumer GeForce RTX 5090, redirecting the chips toward professional and data center products, according to claims circulated by hardware leakers and reported by TechPowerUp and Tom's Hardware.
The leaker MEGAsizeGPU (@Zed__Wang) stated on X that no further GB202 chips would go to the RTX 5090 and that future supplies of the silicon would be reserved for Nvidia's RTX Pro line. A separate leaker, @hongxing2020, cited a factory notice indicating that Nvidia would no longer produce any RTX 5090 models, including the 'D' variants sold in the Chinese market.
According to the same notice, the RTX 5080 24 GB would become the highest-end GeForce card, while the 16 GB version of the RTX 5080 would be discontinued. TechPowerUp noted similarities to a rumored RTX 5080 SUPER, said to carry 24 GB of GDDR7 on the GB203 chip, though it is not confirmed whether the two refer to the same product.
