Nvidia has rolled out updates to its DLSS technology, introducing a faster Frame Generation mode and a significant performance boost to DLSS 5.
Through the latest Nvidia App beta update, the company added a new Performance Mode for DLSS Frame Generation called Preset C. According to TechPowerUp, Nvidia says this mode can make frame generation up to 35% faster on the GeForce RTX 5060, with limited impact on image quality. The improvement applies to the GeForce RTX 40-Series, the GeForce RTX 50-Series, and RTX Spark.
Nvidia outlined two DLSS models: Multi-Frame Generation and Frame Generation. The first relies on a standard AI approach that uses motion vectors and depth to interpret how rendered frames are built, while the second previously used optical flow for in-game elements such as the UI and ray tracing. Nvidia has replaced that optical flow model with a lighter, faster AI algorithm that raises frame rates across DLSS Frame Generation, Multi-Frame Generation, and Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation. The new model is available via the Nvidia App beta update.
