OpenAI Rejects Apple Trade Secret Lawsuit, Calls Claims 'Wrong'

OpenAI has publicly rejected a lawsuit filed against it by Apple, denying that it took the iPhone maker's trade secrets. In a blog post titled "Apple is getting this wrong," the AI company said the case was based on false information and was unnecessary because it does not have, and does not want, any of Apple's trade secrets, according to Tom's Hardware.

Apple filed the suit in July, alleging that OpenAI obtained confidential information through former Apple staff, Engadget and Tom's Hardware reported. The complaint names OpenAI, io Products, and two individuals as defendants: Chang Liu, a former senior electrical engineer at Apple who now works on OpenAI's technical staff, and Tang Tan, OpenAI's chief hardware officer and a former Apple vice president of product design for the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch.
