Qureight, a Cambridge, UK-based company that develops AI imaging tools and precision endpoints for lung and heart disease clinical trials, has raised $20 million in a Series B financing round. The round was led by Molten Ventures, with returning investors Hargreave Hale AIM VCT, XTX Ventures, Guinness Ventures, Meltwind, and Ascension also participating. According to Tech.eu, the round brings the company's total funding to more than €27 million.
The company was co-founded in 2018 by Dr Muhunthan Thillai and Dr Alessandro Ruggiero. Thillai, a chest physician who still sees patients part-time in Cambridge, told Tech Funding News that the idea grew out of a case in which he could not confidently interpret a CT scan, pointing to an opportunity to help pharmaceutical companies run better clinical trials. To address the founders' lack of an engineering background, Qureight brought on a CTO who was previously global head of platform at Hewlett Packard, a CMO who led research at CMR Surgical, and a CSO who formerly taught machine learning at Imperial College London.
