Sony has filed a patent for an AI model intended to assist gamers with mobility limitations, according to TechPowerUp, which cited Insider Gaming. The patent was published on September 17, 2026.
The described system monitors how a player operates the controls and then produces the output required to carry out the action the player was attempting. According to the patent, the model factors in the timing and duration of inputs, movement patterns, and the context of the game. It is pre-trained on control actuation and accessibility data, and the degree of compensation it applies can vary based on the user, the controller, and the game being played.
The patent abstract offers an example in which an injury to the left hand results in less than 50% actuation on the left controls. The system appears able to run either locally or in the cloud.
