Starlink has stopped taking on new subscribers across seven Kenyan counties after customer demand exceeded the network capacity available in those areas, according to reporting by TechCabal. The pause affects Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Machakos, Murang'a, Kirinyaga, and Kwale — regions that include several of the country's largest urban and population hubs.
Prospective users in the affected counties are no longer able to complete orders. Instead, they are directed to a waiting list. TechCabal reported that the company informs customers the service is currently at capacity in their area, and that they may place a deposit to reserve a spot on the waitlist. The provider added that it could not offer an estimated timeframe for when service would become available, but that its teams were working to add capacity.
