
UNIGRID Ships First Sodium-Ion Home Batteries in Europe
Startup UNIGRID has installed its first Na+Casa residential batteries in European homes, positioning sodium-ion as an alternative to lithium-ion, with US availability next.

Sodium-ion battery maker UNIGRID has begun delivering its Na+Casa residential energy storage system, with the first units now operating in homes across Europe, according to Electrek. The rollout marks an early step for a chemistry that has so far played a limited role in the home storage segment, where lithium-ion remains the standard.
A different chemistry enters the home
Home energy storage has been built largely around lithium-ion technology, which dominates both consumer and grid-scale deployments. UNIGRID is positioning sodium-ion as an alternative, and its Na+Casa product represents one of the first residential applications of the chemistry to reach real installations. Electrek reported that the company has shipped its initial units, with the first systems already in place in European households.
