Voyager Technologies has completed its acquisition of Astrobotic Technology, a company focused on lunar infrastructure, according to a report by SpaceNews. The deal brings the Pittsburgh-based spacecraft developer under the umbrella of Voyager, expanding the latter's presence in the market for lunar transportation and related services.
Deal Follows Recent NASA Wins
The completion of the acquisition comes just weeks after Astrobotic secured two NASA lunar lander missions, as noted by SpaceNews. Those awards underscore Astrobotic's continued role in the U.S. space agency's efforts to deliver payloads and equipment to the surface of the Moon.
Astrobotic has been among the companies participating in NASA-backed lunar delivery initiatives, which aim to build out commercial capabilities for reaching the lunar surface. The timing of the acquisition close, following the mission awards, positions Voyager to fold an active lunar contractor into its broader portfolio.
