
Washington Court Orders Kalshi to Halt Most Prediction Market Contracts
A Washington state judge ruled that many of Kalshi's event contracts likely amount to illegal gambling, granting a preliminary injunction against the operator.

A judge in Washington state has directed prediction market operator Kalshi to stop offering most of its event contracts to users in the state, finding that the products likely qualify as illegal gambling under state law, according to reporting by BitKE.
The preliminary injunction requires Kalshi to prevent Washington users from trading the affected contracts. The order covers contracts tied to sports, elections, politics, entertainment, culture, technology and science, and so-called "mentions." Contracts related to commodities, climate, economics, and finance are exempt from the ruling.
