
BTCPay Server Exploit Drains Funds From Bitcoin Lightning Nodes
Developers of the open-source payment processor issued an urgent warning after attackers gained credential access to Lightning wallets and moved merchant funds.

A security flaw in BTCPay Server, an open-source Bitcoin payment processor, has been exploited to remove funds from merchant nodes on the Lightning Network, according to reporting by BitKE and Cointelegraph.
BTCPay's developers advised operators running the LND Lightning implementation either to upgrade their servers to version 2.4.2 or to take them offline. According to the coverage, attackers obtained credentials capable of controlling connected Lightning wallets and transferring funds.
Developers recommended that affected users review their systems for transactions they did not authorize, watch for unexpected channel closures or unfamiliar peers, and compare their on-chain and channel balances against their own records to identify unrecognized activity.
