
European Blue Economy Startups Draw Fresh Funding Across Marine Tech

Europe's blue economy is broadening beyond established sectors such as fishing, shipping and offshore energy, according to a 2026 review published by EU-Startups. The outlet reports that a wave of startups is now applying climate technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and advanced water treatment to make the use of oceans and water resources cleaner, safer and more efficient.
EU-Startups identified 10 European companies founded between 2020 and 2026 that are working across a range of challenges, including restoring coastal ecosystems, generating tidal power, removing hazardous pollutants, improving wastewater treatment, supporting aquaculture, automating maritime operations and digitalising shipping workflows.
