A cluster of early-stage European deals this week underlines where investors are placing their bets in 2026: precision biology, industrial AI and speech technology built to cross borders. For founders and capital flowing between Europe and Africa, the common thread is platform-based companies designed to scale across multiple markets rather than a single domestic base.
Vienna biotech bets on epigenome editing
Epitome Therapeutics, a Vienna-based spin-off from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), announced €4 million in total funding, EU-Startups reported. The package combines an oversubscribed €2 million pre-seed round with €2 million in non-dilutive grants, co-led by XISTA Science Ventures and Caesar Ventures, with Navec Venture Holding also participating.
