Microsoft released its August 2026 Patch Tuesday updates, delivering both new Windows 11 features and a round of security fixes, according to reporting from TechPowerUp and BleepingComputer.
The update, identified as KB5121003, introduces several user-requested changes to Windows 11, TechPowerUp reported. File Explorer now shows file sizes dynamically in kilobytes, megabytes, or gigabytes depending on the file, replacing the previous method that displayed everything in kilobytes.
The release also expands the Low Latency Profile to a wider range of applications. The feature, previously limited to Microsoft's in-box apps, briefly pushes the CPU to its maximum frequency for one to three seconds when an application launches. According to TechPowerUp, this produced roughly 40% faster launches for Microsoft apps such as Edge and Outlook in testing, while elements like the Start Menu and context menus were up to 70% faster.
