Austrian Broadcaster Reports Strong Audience Numbers
As FIFA World Cup 2026 moved into its knockout stages, Austrian public broadcaster ORF reported robust viewership across both streaming and traditional television. Austria featured at the tournament for the first time in 28 years, advancing to the round of 32 before losing 3-0 to Spain on 2 July, according to Sports Video Group.
ORF is sharing its free-to-air rights for the tournament with ServusTV. On 9 July, measured from midnight to midnight, ORF's live streams and video-on-demand content delivered through ORF ON and associated platforms recorded a combined 20 million minutes of usage in Austria, alongside 1.2 million gross video starts and 400,000 net viewing sessions, per Sports Video Group.
